Goalie Ice Skates

Goalie skates as with players skates started of as leather boots bolted to metal blades, they were also fitted with a hardened toecap for obvious reasons, as the years went on the speed of the puck increased and like the rest of the goalie kit the protection increased all around the skate.

As this protection was added around the skates they became heavier and more cumbersome and with the game getting much quicker the manufacturers have responeded by creating some amazing, light and very strong goalies skates, check out the Bauer 3S Goalie, CCM Super Tacks AS3 goalie and Graf Peakspeed Pro G pictured below. This new generation of skates along with the much lighter leg pads and other equipment allow the goalie to move around the crease much faster.
